Columbia is the geographic center of South Carolina, with easy access to mountains (two hours west) and nationally recognized beach resorts (two hours east). Columbia boasts a nationally acclaimed library system, highly rated schools, and many outstanding golf courses. Big time college sports abound with two major schools - the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in the Southeastern Conference and Clemson University, Clemson, Atlantic Coast Conference (two hours away). This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 30, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 21 January 2021, with subsequent cut-off dates every Friday. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. NOTE: First area of consideration will be given to current employees of the Columbia South Carolina VA Health Care System. The Gastroenterology RN demonstrates leadership and mastery of practice in delivering efficient, comprehensive, and continuous patient driven holistic care through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of resources. He/she considers all characteristics of the individual, including sex and role identification, age, life stage, state of health, race, culture, socio-economic status, values and beliefs in order to assist each patient with the improvement of his/her health status to the maximum potential. Incumbent will be responsible for assisting Gastroenterology physicians in completing endoscopic procedures effectively, performing non-endoscopic and endoscopic procedures, and insuring the highest quality of nursing care for gastroenterology patients. He/she demonstrates the ability to assess each patient's status, relative to his or her age, disease specific needs, and scheduled procedure(s). The responsibility includes the utilization of specialized, advanced clinical nursing skills and equipment, technical skills related to both endoscopic and non-endoscopic gastroenterological procedures in an independent manner based on RN scope of practice in the areas of direct patient care, gastrointestinal pathophysiology, and education of patients, families, significant others, and hospital personnel. The incumbent will utilize core elements of performance including knowledge and active participation in unit/service level quality improvement processes. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 800AM to 430PM, or as assigned. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
