The Registered Nurse is located in the GI Procedural Unit and is responsible for managing complex patient situations, acts as a patient advocate, and provides supportive assistance to all members of the healthcare team. The incumbent is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for the clinical, administrative, research and educational aspects of the assignment. Duties and or responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Functions as a clinical, educational or administrative leader, pacesetter or role model for peers and personnel under their supervision. Initiates problem identification; seeks resolution; follows through with implementation; evaluates by defining in terms of improved health care. Collaborates with appropriate resource/administrative personnel. Consistently utilizes the nursing process to provide a comprehensive, realistic, patient-centered plan of care. Utilizes the assessment to determine nursing diagnoses. Identifies potential problems and writes appropriate nursing/medical orders/interventions as per clinical privileges. Evaluates the nursing and medical care delivered to each patient and modifies plan of care as needed. Consults with appropriate staff in addressing ethical issues. Identifies and communicates ethical issues to health team and or other appropriate persons. Participates in ethical decisions making process. Utilizes the computer appropriately and maintains access security. Consults with appropriate resources to asses the needs in collaboration with other health team members. Serves as a resource person at the unit level in facilitating the implementation of Patient Care Programs (i. e. Performance Improvement, Infection Control, Recruitment, Retention, and Safety Regulations). Administers moderate sedation per facility guidelines. Prepare patients prior to procedures. Participates in the procedural rooms and assists with general and advanced GI procedures. Recovers patients post procedure from Moderate Sedation, Monitored Anesthesia Care, and General Anesthesia. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: BSN preferred. CGRN preferred. Current AHA BLS Certification preferred. 1 -2 years of experience in a GI procedural setting; will consider experience in other procedural settings. Moderate Sedation preferred.. Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts: Monday - Friday: 07:30AM - 04:00PM, 08:00AM - 04:30PM, 08:30AM - 05:00PM, or 09:00AM - 05:30PM. (May require later stay per department needs).
