The Danville VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to serve in the Gastroenterology section. Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience:2-3 years experience in gastroenterology. References: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-8 Physician Assistant Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. ["Duties include, but not limited to: Provides gastroenterology and hepatology patient care in outpatient, urgent care, inpatient, and telehealth settings at VA Illiana Health Care System and affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Coordinates patient care for gastroenterology and hepatology clinics. Obtains informed consents for gastroenterology/endoscopy procedures and other treatments. Completes History & Physical Exams and order entry for patients undergoing gastroenterology /endoscopy procedures and treatments. Assists Gastroenterologist with clinical review, triage, and management of gastroenterology and endoscopy consults. Provides patient education for veterans and/or family members. Ensures that all lab results, pathology, and x-ray reports are properly documented, tracked, and communicated with Gastroenterologist and to patients.. Ensures accurate and timely medical record documentation. Provides cross coverage for other areas within the Specialty Service as directed. Participates in committees, peer review process, and other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Specialty Service, the Medical Director of Specialty Medicine/Surgery, or designee.
