Opportunity to join an established pediatric gastroenterology clinical practice comprised of inpatient consultations/rounding, ambulatory clinic, endoscopic procedures, and virtual medicine. Pediatric Gastroenterology at Southern California Permanente Medical Group currently consists of 13 Pediatric Gastroenterologists across the Southern California region. Together, we care for the KP Southern California population which currently spans 4.6 million members and over 1 million pediatric members.
We are recruiting a full-time Pediatric Gastroenterologist to join our group in Los Angeles and Woodland Hillls/Valleys. Expertise in motility is preferred. KP Los Angeles Medical Center is a member of the Children's Hospital Association and is one of three tertiary medical centers in the Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Care (KPPC) network. Los Angeles Medical Center is the primary referral center for our Valley locations. Our services include pediatric hospitalists, NICU, PICU (Los Angeles), and emergency department. We place great emphasis on fostering a strong culture of collaboration and support among pediatric medical and surgical specialties not only between the Valleys and Los Angeles areas but also across the KP Southern California region. Finally, we play an active role in training the next generation of physicians both in teaching resident physicians and as a designated clerkship site for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
Potential clinical roles include:
- Outpatient consultation and follow-up care
- Development of a regional motility program and center of excellence with associated medical and surgical specialties.
- Inpatient consultation and rounding
- Performing endoscopic procedures
- Providing virtual medical care
- Physician-physician advice via telephone and electronic advice communication tools
- Shared call schedule with other KP pediatric GI physicians
- Opportunity for mentorship and clinical teaching of KP School of Medicine students.
The philosophy and beliefs of Southern California Permanente Medical Group are rooted in the founding principles of the Kaiser Permanente integrated managed care partnership established in 1945 between physicians and the Kaiser Foundation. That word - partnership - is important. We are a physician-led partnership with a mission to transform the practice of medicine.
At SCPMG, we continue to empower our providers to lead. We understand that our success is made possible through the skills, ambition and leadership of our physicians and professional staff. We invest in our physicians and staff through continuing education, training, technology support and a nation-leading Physician Wellness program. And to further the legacy of our philosophy we are investing in the future: the new Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine is training future generations of doctors to practice responsible, ethical, collaborative and fulfilling medicine.
We continually improve the health and wellness of our patients, our physicians, and our communities with our equation of responsible, ethical and effective care.
Join us as we continue to deliver The Answer to Healthcare in America.
About the area
The Los Angeles area is one of the most sought-after communities on the west coast. Located in the hub of the city, the weather enables year-round outdoor recreation, and there's easy access to great cuisine, the arts, professional sports, and culturally diverse events. It's close to big cities to its north and south, but without the traffic and other issues that big cities present. The area has a great variety of housing options: near the mountains, in open space amongst foothills, and in urban settings.
Just West of the metro Los Angeles area, Woodland Hills is situated 30 minutes due west of downtown LA. The service area is a hub both for quality housing and a range of activities. Staff members live in the immediate area but also in Los Angeles, Hollywood, or Valleys, affording them all the fine dining, entertainment, and cultural opportunities that Southern California has to offer.
SCPMG Los Angeles is characterized by a deeply ingrained culture of teamwork, collaboration, and collegiality that cuts across specialties and departments. Driven by a dynamic, transparent leadership team, physician involvement is a key focus, enabling constant improvement and fueling a desire to sustainably provide affordable, high-quality care. Our deep clinical talent pool affords a wealth of consultative support from specialists and subspecialists. We place a strong emphasis on physician wellness: protecting our physicians, mentally and physically, is viewed as critical for reaching our goals. Opportunities for connecting abound, through formal and informal events and programs, and special events that are unique to Los Angeles. We actively help new hires to acclimate, integrate, and ultimately, bond--thereby furthering physician involvement and clinical expertise, and creating a breeding ground for the next leaders.
Infused with a spirit of teamwork and collaboration, SCPMG Los Angeles has a strong culture of safety--emphasizing both patient safety as well as caregivers' ability to raise concerns and have a voice. Our leadership is dedicated to accessibility and a flat hierarchy, building trust between physicians and ancillary staff. There is a significant focus on innovation--Downey was the region's first medical center to perform same-day total joint surgery--and on efficiency, improving workflows across the medical center and ancillary offices. At the same time, wellness--both physical and mental--is emphasized, with regular opportunities to dine out, socialize, and exercise together. With a high level of tertiary care, one of the region's largest NICU's, and an OB and anesthesia staff comprised of full physicians, Downey delivers exemplary service to its diverse, high-risk-profile patient population.
