The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full-time anatomic, ABP board certified/eligible pathologist with sub-specialty training or significant clinical experience in gastrointestinal pathology.
Candidates with an interest in digital pathology are encouraged to apply. Leadership opportunities in education and institutional bio-banking exist for qualified candidates. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience.
Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity. Minimum requirements are an M.D or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in AP or AP/CP, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training and a sub-specialty fellowship program or demonstrated significant experience in GI pathology.
This candidate will spend significant time providing sub-specialty clinical service in a complex, growing anatomic pathology division. Sign-out responsibilities, autopsy service, frozen section coverage, resident and fellow supervision, on-call duties and conferences are shared with other members of the anatomic pathology faculty.
Candidates will participate in medical student, resident and fellow education, and are encouraged to pursue a research program that will lead to a national/international reputation of excellence. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise. Preferred candidates will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.
The University of Minnesota is a large and diverse university and medical school with an integrated, multi-specialty group practice composed of over 1,100 physicians and 1,500 health professionals, University of Minnesota Physicians. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is home to a large number of anatomic and clinical pathology faculty as well as many basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education.
