JOB SUMMARY:
The RN/Registered Nurse in Endoscopy is an integral part of the multidisciplinary Endoscopy team. The RN in this role will prep and recover patients for their procedures, as well as assist the multidisciplinary team in providing patient centered care in the procedural rooms in circulating role and/or highly technical specialized role. The Registered Nurse in this role is also responsible for administering conscious sedation for designated patients.
Endoscopy is a fast paced, inpatient and outpatient procedural area performing a variety of GI and Hepatology related procedures, approximately 1100 procedures/month. We are open 5 days/week with a call expectation outside of regular business hours providing 24/7 coverage. The RN in this role will assist with scheduled/urgent adult, GI procedures, on the Endoscopy unit, in the OR, on the Intensive Care Units, or in the Emergency Department. The RN on this unit frequently needs to multi-task, possess flexibility with assignments, and be a team-player as Endoscopy is a dynamic, innovative, and growing department at Penn State Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by State of employment
AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Procedural, ICU or step-down experience is highly preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.
Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.
Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.
Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
